Go Make a Difference

Our host for this weekend was Catholic speaker and musician Steve Angrisano. Married with three children, Steve has been working in Catholic ministry for many years, travelling across the country from his home base in Texas. As our host, Steve introduced the rest of our speaking team, transitioned smoothly between sessions, made sure we made it to our events on time, and offered a few final thoughts at this morning’s keynote.

Our main Scripture verse for this morning was John 3:16-17: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him.” We focused more on the second half of this passage than the first – that our God takes care of His own, and will never leave them.

Some people call miraculous things that happen coincidence. We call it God. And the love of God is constantly available to us through the sacraments, the Scriptures, His Real Presence in the Eucharist, and the Holy Spirit that lives within us. That love is something that lasts long after any conference ends and participants head home.

Conference attendees were then given time to discuss the following reflection questions. Even if you weren’t at a Steubenville conference this weekend, we invite you to take some time and think about how God has been working in your life lately:

1. What did you experience this weekend that showed you God’s power in your life? Are you ready to commit yourself to Him? It’s okay if you’re not. Be honest. If you’re not ready, what is holding you back?
2. Check out Jeremiah 17:7-8. In thinking about going home today, what are you anxious about? How does this promise of Scripture give you hope for going back home today?
3. Now go to Matthew 7:24-27. To build a house on rock, you need three things – prayer, community, and sacraments. What is the foundation you are building your life on? What was it before this weekend? What areas of your life do you think need to change now?
